CALLING ALL RURALISTS…
Your Countryside Needs YOU!
Rugby veteran star Phil Vickery is leading a special ‘publishing team’ to produce an exciting series of books that will celebrate and commemorate the UK’s hugely popular field sports, activities that are regarded as essential parts of the great British countryside traditions, and integral to the life of rural communities.
The unique four-volume set of gloriously illustrated, high-quality hardback books that will put the focus on stalking, shooting, fishing and estate management, concentrating on the core elements of the ‘sporting etiquette’.
The overall series is called ‘The Ruralist’ and the books stand alone as individual volumes or can compiled into a highly desirable quad-boxed collection. Apart from the key four volumes - presented in lavish, embossed slipcases - there will be an exclusive subscriber edition that will be personally endorsed and numbered.
This remarkable publishing project is already underway and over the next 14 months the publishing/editorial team will roam the British Isles on a quest to unearth intriguing stories and to record the season-by-season events and activities that makes up our national rural heritage.
The books are being compiled by Barry Hutchinson, who was raised on a 45,000 acre landed estate, in partnership with award winning publisher and photographer Guy Woodland, with Phil Vickery taking a high profile role.
Each of the books will feature guest essays contributed by eminent and well known individuals involved with each of the disciplines as well as fascinating profiles of a number of ‘ruralists’ - whose lives are linked to the very fundamental structure and nature of rural Britain.
The rationale behind the books is to foster a greater understanding of the British countryside and rural areas.
